The Working at Height Association (WAHA) is pleased to announce the launch of it’s new website, www.waha.org.au effective from Friday 15th December, 2017. The website platform has been insufficient for some time for the future growing needs of the organisation members and the public at large.

The new website has the most comprehensive platform of height safety and confined spaces information in industry, with the intent of becoming an essential reference point for all safety professionals. The new site is a vast improvement on the previous platform, with fall statistics, guidelines for use (industry codes), the history of manufacturing fall protection equipment and WAHA recommendations regarding training and confined spaces as just a few of the new areas of focus.

“Since the beginning of the height safety industry in Australia, there has been the need for a technically focused, independent source of information for professionals to access key information about working at heights and confined spaces” said Michael Biddle, Chairman of the WAHA. “In our view, this new site is the beginning of the journey, with the intention that it becomes the hub for not only publishing important advice for industry, but also to be a place people can share their expertise without commercial interest.”

A number of manufacturing organisations, training companies and installation businesses are already members of the association, however this is expected to grow dramatically in the coming few years, with the implementation of the WAHA Roadmap 2021 program. The association plans to evolve into an organisation that oversees the regulation of members to increase the standards of height safety installations, training and products sold for height safety and confined space access.

The Roadmap 2021 program is intended to address the significant concern across industry regarding the ongoing issues of safety systems being installed on buildings that are unfit for purpose. Consultation with safety Regulators continues to point for the need for a self-regulated industry, to which the WAHA intends to play a key role in creating.

The WAHA is a not-for-profit industry association, dedicated to improving the safety standards of fall protection for all people who work at height in industrial environments. For more information, visit www.waha.org.au
